Takahide Sano was born in Tokyo (J) on February 06, 1958
After taking his certificate in Industrial Design at Hongo High School of Tokyo (1976), he entered Toshiba Design Centre and immediately started working as a designer (1976 -1988). There he specialized in the aereas of audio-video and TV; among the products he designed in those years, more than 60 were produced and successfully sold both in Japanese and international markets.
In 1988 he moved to Italy, in Milan, and started working as junior designer at Studio Bonetto (1988 -1989), then he became assistant of the artist Marcello Morandini (1989 -1993).
In 1990 he founded his own design studio, Studio SANO.
In the years 1996-2001 he had a funny professional experience becoming resident guest in the popular, Italian TV programme (RAI 2) “Quelli che il calcio”.
In 2001-2002 he has been creative director of TVS S.p.A.
In 2002 he was creative director of SAMP – Pesaro Furniture Fair
From 2001 to 2004 held the role of creative manager at M.O.D.I.A. Design.
He managed a team of Italian and international highly skilled professionals -masters of modelling, industrial, graphic and transportation designers, engineers- to develop for Honda R & D Europe new concepts of scooters, new types of vehicles (two/three/four wheels), trend researchs, make scooter and city-car prototypes in scale 1:1.
Besides industrial design, since 1980 he co-operates with the Japanese art gallery Unac Tokyo, conceiving set ups for museums in many countries. From time to time, he also teams up with artists as Marcello Morandini, Massimo Lunardon (glass blower and artist) and Luca Bonato (methacrylate master and artist) to arrange personal or collective exhibitions, editing of catalogues, books, videos, in Italy and abroad.
He designed home accessories, medical equipments, lamps, electric devices, shop interiors and museum exhibitions, scooters, bathroom fittings… change and challenge are always welcome, the door is always open to beauty and design.
